"30,000 aerial working platforms, about 150 branches, more than 2,000 employees and a common goal: deliver our customers the best height access technology with highest service and safety."
At mateco IT, we build highly available, modern, large scale custom applications for our businesses: Rental, Planning, Trade, Service.
As an Application Support Analyst, I bridge the gap between business and development by analyzing and solving issues to prevent unnecessary attention from the delivery teams. I primarily work with streaming applications (Kafka), Google cloud and Microsoft Dynamics.
ROOV is a very ambitious personal finance app. It tracks all your expenses and provides you with useful insights.
The app gained a lot of funding due to its innovative features such as a banking integration with payment initiation and machine learning for document field recognition.
I was happy to be part of the company from the start and that I got to experience the rise of a nice startup.
My task was the backend services and cloud deployments, as well as the Android application.
Due to the growth of the team, I also became a SCRUM master!
Investr is a real estate website targeted to the investor.
It's core is a very detailed investment report with a prognosis of your ROI, if you (don't yet) own a property you should check it out!
The first release of the website was created by a third party but it was far from complete so we rewrote, improved and redesigned it.
It was my job to maintain the website, as well as improving it. Visually or with new features.
Translucid (now Formica) was a Google Apps (G Suite) and Google Cloud integrator.
We built custom solutions around Google Apps and tried to help companies with new ways of working using Google applications.
I created PoC's for digital signage, in house PM tools, migration scripts and a very useful custom application.
This was the place where I got the developer's bug.
Questio (now Formica) was a Google Search Appliance (GSA) integrator. A GSA is (was) literally Google in a box.
We deployed these machine at numerous and very large companies, indexed millions of documents and made them searchable.
I deployed and configured these machines and developed connectors to index data from any source (file systems, mailboxes, webpages,...). I also created applications to search these datasets.
My best memories are from a long-term project where I acted as a consultant and search specialist to improve a very large application at one of the nicest companies to exist.
This was my first job. Being a consultant and working in many teams and environments gave my career a kickstart, I quickly had a realistic image of the ICT world.

First and foremost I'm a software developer. Throughout the years I've been able to taste every aspect within this domain, from html to Java and from Git to SQL.
Lately, I grew the most in backend development due to a very large and ambitious startup project. The projects I've worked on were very different from each other, as were the languages they were their technology stacks.

Search is my best niche skill. By that I don't mean SEO but large scale indexing search engine applications.
I've build many applications around search engines and libraries and developed fully functional search experiences.
This field still fascinates me and I'd like to apply my knowledge in future projects.

Most projects that I've worked on run in the cloud so I had to learn about VM's, deployments, containerization, networks, certificates, ...
I gained some experience in application clusters, micro services, containers and network troubleshooting.

DevOps is crucial in large scale applications so knowing how it works is an essential skill.
I worked with it in several projects and was able to set it up from scratch. It doesn't interest me that much nor am I good at it, but i'll manage.

Working as a consultant and in a startup from the beginning, I have seen many projects from the start which had me thinking frequently about application architecture. I learnt basic principles, applied them and overcame many obstacles.
I wish I can keep growing in this field while projects come and go.
With new technologies and breakthroughs in fields such as AI, there's so many things to learn!
If I get a mushroom, who knows what I'll grow into?
